The proposed house is to replace a tin, steel and timber barn that sits into the hillside.
The site is in the Blackdown Hills area of outstanding natural beauty. Subsequently, this rural setting requires the proposal to be considered under the PPS7 legislation ‘Sustainable Development in Rural Areas’.
The key aspect to the design of Country House is to allow for a single storey home which utilises the existing landscape, combining the surrounding farmstead vernacular yet be a modern design with zero carbon credentials.
